The woman refuses to be put in her place. She takes Jesus’ own image of bread and she transforms it, “Lord, even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the master’s table.” She reminds Jesus of what He himself had revealed. There was enough bread for everyone, enough for leftovers.
